Highly expansive clay soil from a recent project site was tested to determine if treatment with Clay Set would reduce the swell potential of the clay to within the less than 1% swell specification. The testing showed that soil treated with Clay Set has a dramatic reduction in swell potential and complies with the specification, while using water to bring the clay to the same moisture content as the Clay Set treated soil leaves the clay with high to extreme swell potential.
Soils from the same project site as the soil tested for swell (above) were tested to determine if treatment with Clay Set would increase the Resilient Modulus (strength). At 7 days post treatment there was an 88% increase in strength. At 21 days a 121% increase was achieved.
Testing was done to prepare for a project coming in 2020. The use of Clay Set was compared to water alone and not only did it have better results for reducing swell, but also for reducing soil suction. This means you can expect much better long term results.
