What We Do
Soil Scientific is the manufacturer of Clay Set, a hydrogen ionic soil stabilization option for expansive clay that is made in the USA. This disruptive product offers an effective, permanent and economical solution that is changing the clay stabilization world. (Check out our Info Pack). In pre-construction operations, millions of cyds of expansive clay and clay stone have been successfully treated with Clay Set, providing excellent long term results. You can also use Clay Set with a minimally invasive process to treat existing structures that are experiencing movement.
Clay Set can be purchased by earthwork companies or directly by land developers or builders who have their own excavation personnel in-house or under contract. You can also become one of our Certified Affiliate Contractors who perform mitigations for existing structures and/or resells Clay Set to retail customers.
DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY THAT WORKS FOR YOU
- Clay Set is routinely used for pre-construction mitigation to replace a select fill, lime treatment, deep pier/structural floor foundation systems, etc.
- Treatment is done to the on site clay soil either in a mixing operation where the soil is removed and replaced in lifts with the Clay Set applied to each (for clay stone and very dense clays) or, where soil conditions allow, injection directly into the in situ soil with a large injection rig or by hand injection for treatment of existing structures.
- Clay Set treatment will allow the use of spread footer with slab on grade foundation systems. This saves you large sums of money on the front end while providing a superior result with decreased maintenance or warranty costs and increased customer satisfaction for the long term.
- Clay Set does NOT pre-swell the clay which means it can be used on existing structures and not only do you dramatically reduce swell, but you also dramatically reduce the chance of shrinking. The shrink/swell cycle is virtually eliminated and you don't end up with excess soil that needs to be disposed of.
- Using treated clay instead of highly permeable fill soil will eliminate the risk of the "bath tub effect" . Treated clay with not carry water to untreated soils around and below the treatment area.
- Clay Set has also been shown to increase the strength of the soil . (See our data page) Now you can even use cheap clay as import fills or buy that piece of bargain "problem" land because dealing with the clay is easy and inexpensive with Clay Set.
- Clay Set can also be used to stabilize existing structures to arrest heave. Treatment is done with a minimally-invasive process that allows you to truly address the issues in the soil so final repairs and finishes can be confidently completed.
